In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Honda Prologue achieved a “Good” rating - the highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Chevrolet Equinox EV has not been tested.

Both the Prologue and the Equinox EV have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, front wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

The Prologue’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the Equinox EV’s (unlimited vs. 100,000 miles).

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2025 Auto Issue reports that Honda vehicles are more reliable than Chevrolet vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Honda fourth in overall reliability. Chevrolet is ranked 16th.

The Prologue’s standard electric motor produces 7 more horsepower (220 vs. 213) and 7 lbs.-ft. more torque (243 vs. 236) than the Equinox EV’s standard electric motor. The Prologue’s optional electric motors produces 12 more horsepower (300 vs. 288) and 22 lbs.-ft. more torque (355 vs. 333) than the Equinox EV’s optional electric motors.

As tested in Car and Driver the Honda Prologue electric motors is faster than the Chevrolet Equinox EV electric motor:

On the EPA test cycle the Prologue AWD gets better mileage than the Equinox EV AWD (108 city/90 hwy vs. 101 city/90 hwy MPGe).

The Prologue AWD can travel longer on a full charge than the Equinox EV AWD (294 miles vs. 285 miles).

The Prologue stops shorter than the Equinox EV:

For better traction, the Prologue has larger standard tires than the Equinox EV (255/60R19 vs. 245/55R19).

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires available on the Prologue can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The Equinox EV doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Prologue’s wheelbase is 5.5 inches longer than on the Equinox EV (121.8 inches vs. 116.3 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Prologue is 2.6 inches wider in the front and 2.6 inches wider in the rear than on the Equinox EV.

The Prologue Elite handles at .80 G’s, while the Equinox EV RS pulls only .78 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Prologue Elite executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1 seconds quicker than the Equinox EV RS eAWD (27.1 seconds @ .64 average G’s vs. 28.1 seconds @ .62 average G’s).

For greater off-road capability the Prologue has a 1.7 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Equinox EV (8.1 vs. 6.4 inches), allowing the Prologue to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Prologue has 9.5 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Equinox EV (111.7 vs. 102.2).

The Prologue has .4 inches more front headroom, 1.6 inches more front hip room, .8 inches more front shoulder room, 1.4 inches more rear legroom, 3.7 inches more rear hip room and 2.1 inches more rear shoulder room than the Equinox EV.

The Prologue has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Equinox EV with its rear seat folded (57.7 vs. 57.2 cubic feet).

A standard locking glovebox keeps your small valuables safer in the Prologue. The Equinox EV doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

The Prologue’s front power windows open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Equinox EV’s front passenger window doesn’t close automatically.

The Prologue’s standard Push Button Start and Smart Entry allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the cargo door, and start the vehicle, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Keyless Access standard on the Equinox EV doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

The Prologue’s standard outside mirrors include heating elements to clear off the mirrors for better visibility. Chevrolet charges extra for heated mirrors on the Equinox EV.

The Prologue Touring/Elite’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Equinox EV offers an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

Both the Honda Prologue and Chevrolet Equinox EV offer exterior mirrors that can be folded to provide convenience. The Prologue offers available power folding mirrors, which allow for easy, one-touch folding or unfolding at the driver’s discretion. This provides added convenience when maneuvering or parking, as well as when walking past the parked vehicle. In comparison, the Equinox EV’s foldable mirrors are manual, requiring the driver to get out and physically fold them once parked and unfold them before getting in.

The Prologue has a standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. Dual zone air conditioning costs extra on the Equinox EV.

The Honda Prologue has a standard Homelink wireless remote control system for garage door operation and device management, conveniently located on the infotainment. Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. Chevrolet charges extra for Homelink® on the Equinox EV.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Honda Prologue has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the Equinox EV.

The Prologue Elite has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Equinox EV doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
