For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Honda Prologue are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Jaguar I-Pace doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Prologue are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The I-Pace doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Honda Prologue has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The I-Pace doesn’t offer knee airbags.

In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Honda Prologue achieved a “Good” rating - the highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Jaguar I-Pace has not been tested.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Prologue has standard Reverse Automatic Braking that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The I-Pace doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

The Prologue Elite has a standard Surround Vision System to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The I-Pace only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the Prologue and the I-Pace have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and rear cross-path warning.

There are over 7 times as many Honda dealers as there are Jaguar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Prologue’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Honda vehicles are better in initial quality than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Honda above average in initial quality. With 7 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is rated lower.

For better traction, the Prologue has larger standard tires than the I-Pace (255/60R19 vs. 245/50R20). The Prologue Elite’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the I-Pace (275/45R21 vs. 255/40R22).

The Honda Prologue’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Jaguar I-Pace only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

The Prologue has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The I-Pace doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires available on the Prologue can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The I-Pace doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Prologue’s wheelbase is 4.1 inches longer than on the I-Pace (121.8 inches vs. 117.7 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Prologue is 1.4 inches wider in the front and .9 inches wider in the rear than on the I-Pace.

For better maneuverability, the Prologue’s turning circle is .9 feet tighter than the I-Pace’s (39.6 feet vs. 40.5 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Prologue has a 1.6 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the I-Pace (8.1 vs. 6.5 inches), allowing the Prologue to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Prologue has .5 inches more front legroom, 1.8 inches more front shoulder room, 4.4 inches more rear legroom and 3 inches more rear shoulder room than the I-Pace.

The Prologue has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the I-Pace with its rear seat folded (57.7 vs. 53.6 cubic feet).

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Prologue has a standard rear wiper. The I-Pace doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

The Prologue Elite has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The I-Pace doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Prologue is available in both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The I-Pace doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

The Honda Prologue outsold the Jaguar I-Pace by over 13 to one during 2024.
